In Arabic mythology, ifrits are enormous winged creatures of fire that constitute a class of the Jinn, and are able to assume human or animal form. These creatures, though insusceptible to physical weapons, can be dominated or even killed, given the right magical procedures. Ifrits live in tribal-structured communities, usually marrying one of their own kind, although human unions are possible.
