One of the most famous works of Claudius Ptolemy, the second-century astronomer and mathematician.
A textbook of astronomy comprising of thirteen books, dedicated to investigating and explaining the motions of celestial bodies. Although many of Ptolemy's theories were disproven by subsequent astronomers over the centuries, the complex mathematics used within the Almagest are generally regarded as influential in the foundations of modern-day trigonometry.
