Genbu is the Japanese pronunciation for the Black Tortoise (Kanji: 玄武; Chinese pinyin: xuán wǔ), which is one of the Four Symbols (mythological beasts) in Chinese astronomy. It represents Winter and Water, and as acts as Guardian of the North.
